Michelle Cresta Named Acting Superintendent

The Marblehead School Committee issued a release at 10:15 this morning, August 3, 2023, announcing that Michelle Cresta, current assistant superintendent of operations and finance, will serve as acting superintendent of the Marblehead Public Schools.

"The School Committee has complete faith that Ms. Cresta and the current leadership team will take all necessary actions to ensure a successful opening of the coming school year and we look forward to supporting them," according to the statement.

The release notes that Cresta will remain in the role of acting superintendent while the School Committee determines what steps will be taken with regard to naming an interim superintendent. 

Cresta was previously named as the superintendent designee, which School Committee Chair Sarah Fox defined as the person who fills in "whenever a superintendent is not working, whether that be for a planned vacation or any leave."
