As part of this year’s Summer Reading 2023: Find Your Voice theme, Abbot Public Library is hosting literary agent Doug Grad to discuss how to get your book published. As a 37-year veteran of the publishing industry, Grad has seen it all from both sides of the desk. If you’ve ever been interested in writing a book or if you’ve written a book and want to get it published, Grad will give you the cold, hard reality of the business of publishing—from landing a deal with a major publisher to self-publishing your manuscript. He’ll give you a general overview of publishing, how it has changed in recent years, with knowledge and wisdom gained from working at some of the largest New York publishing houses. Grad will take you through the various steps to getting a book published, from the writer’s ideas to the bookstore (or library) shelves. Have your questions ready, because he will have the answers!
