Stop & Shop Continues Support of North Shore Families with $10,000 Donation to the Marblehead Community Charter School Food Pantry

Following a $10,000 donation in 2022, Stop & Shop is continuing its support of the Marblehead Community Charter School Food Pantry with an additional $10,000 donation. The food pantry provides support for 75 students ages 8-14 and their families across towns including Marblehead, Nahant, Salem, Swampscott, Beverly, and Peabody.

The donation comes as 50% of students at Marblehead Community Charter School are high-needs, and food insecurity rates across the state remain high. According to a recent report from The Greater Boston Food Bank,1.8 million adults reported facing food insecurity in 2022, with 20% of households experiencing very low food security.

The School Food Pantry is run by Marblehead Community Charter School Director of Food Services, Danette Russo and dedicated school, who work closely with the Swampscott Stop & Shore store team which distributes food once per month to students and their families, as well as a monthly distribution to the Council on Aging in the local community.
